Center for Industrial Services

Health & Safety Program

The Health & Safety program is a part of the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (CIS). Our goal is to help organizations improve workplace safety, strengthen emergency preparedness and meet OSHA compliance requirements. We offer training and services in safety consultations, hazardous materials, emergency response, technical rescue, audits, environmental management and more.

As one of only 25 OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers nationwide, we deliver OSHA-authorized, nationally recognized courses through open enrollment and on-site options.

We are also part of the Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training. As part of this organization, we offer training that benefits public health, particularly the prevention and control of hazards.

OSHA Training Institute Education Center

The OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center at the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services is one of 25 centers in a national network of non-profit organizations authorized by OSHA to deliver occupational safety and health training to public and private sector workers, supervisors and employers.

OTI Education Center Programs are an essential component in OSHA's mission to prevent work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

We take pride in our instructors who uphold the highest quality standards, and we have a committed staff and management team who work diligently to ensure you have the training and support services you need to protect workers, reduce losses and realize the profitability of a good safety and health program.

UT CIS is proud to partner with Vol State Community College to provide this program.

OSHA prohibits registration in virtual/video conferences with an OTI education center outside of your service area. This does not apply to Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. If you do not live in the states listed and need to complete a virtual/video conference OSHA course, please view the current list of authorized OTI education centers to find your region’s center.
